Youth Workers Meet in Germany for a Green Future: EcoMentors Begins!
The countdown has begun for the “EcoMentors” project, which aims to bring together youth workers from all over Europe around the axis of environmental literacy, sustainability, and healthy living mentorship. All participants have completed their preparations ahead of the project, which will be implemented in Herne, Germany, between July 4-11.

The EcoMentors project aims to combat the climate crisis and the eco-anxiety it brings, one of the biggest challenges facing young people in today’s world. The project aims to transform youth workers into “environmental mentors,” becoming powerful multipliers that will trigger sustainable change in their local communities.
Major Online Meeting Before the Trip
All participants who will travel to Herne, where the project will be implemented, have purchased their plane tickets and are counting down the days until their physical departure. To strengthen intercultural ties, clarify logistical details, and review final preparations regarding the program content, all partners and participants will come together in an online preparatory meeting in the coming days.
Sustainability from Theory to Practice
The project, which includes important field visits such as Gelsenkirchen Solar City and innovative non-formal education methods such as the “Eco-Sport Challenge” and “Lifestyle Auction,” focuses on critical themes such as biodiversity, circular economy, and zero waste. Through training aimed at increasing participants’ environmental literacy levels by at least 40%, youth workers will integrate their acquired knowledge into youth work in their own countries.
Anxiety Transformed into Action
One of the most unique outcomes of the project will be transforming the feeling of helplessness (eco-anxiety) that young people experience in the face of climate change into constructive local action through resilience-based practices. Participants will extend the project’s impact over the long term with the “Digital EcoMentors Charter” and individual action plans they will prepare at the end of the training.
Following a 7-day intensive program, participants’ developed digital, mentoring, and advocacy skills will be documented with an internationally recognized Youthpass Certificate.
We wish the EcoMentors team, who will crown cross-border collaboration with green initiatives, success in advance!
